Editing
If you have got a completed manuscript, then it is important to get a structural edit and/or copy-edit before you do anything more with it.
Prior to publishing, it is essential to get your manuscript professionally proofread.
A properly and thoroughly edited manuscript will ensure that your readers continue reading your first book and the next ones you write.
Regardless of the type of editing you choose for your work, it is important to have the right relationship with your editor.
Ideally, it should be a relationship that spans your writing career.
At Author’s Pen we take this very seriously. Before deciding to work with us, we encourage authors to send in a 1,000 word sample of their work, so we can gauge how we work together. It also allows us to gauge the level of editing your work would benefit from.
In short, editing your work will ensure that when your manuscript lands on the desk of an agent, or into the hands of your reader, they can immediately see that you have invested in your manuscript.
